Microsoft 365
As a Microsoft Cloud Solutions Provider, Tridium helps clients get the most from Microsoft 365, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
Use SharePoint's "Sync" feature. With OneDrive installed and signed in to your organizational account, open the SharePoint site in your browser, go to Documents (or a specific folder), and click "Sync." The files then appear in File Explorer under your organization's name, like a mapped drive. Files download as accessed, so an Internet connection is needed.
Open OneDrive from the Start menu (or download it from Microsoft), sign in with your organizational account and complete MFA if prompted. During setup, enable syncing of your Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders unless told otherwise, so files back up to the Cloud automatically. Repeat on other devices, and access files anytime at https://www.office.com/.
OneDrive is for an individual user's files, while SharePoint is for an entire department or team. Both are Microsoft cloud-based document management and collaboration tools. OneDrive can sync a user's Desktop and Documents folders across devices. SharePoint organizes shared files into sites, which can be set up per department, per client, or even made public-facing.
When moving from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365, Outlook replaces Gmail and Calendar, Teams replaces Chat and Meet, OneDrive and SharePoint replace Drive, and Word, Excel, and PowerPoint replace Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Install the OneDrive desktop app, sync your Desktop and Documents folders, consider classic Outlook for plugin support, and use free shared mailboxes instead of shared logins.
